Capita SIMS
Capita Sims software is used in 85% of schools; working alongside Software Architects at the Microsoft Technology Centre we designed an engaging ‘touch module’ for teachers. Following this exercise we went on to create a unique identity and user-interface for a new data exploration module named ‘Discover’.
The Design
The project began with an architectural design session with both the client and the brain-boxes at Microsoft. An important output was an engaging natural user-interface that would be an exciting concept for teachers. Using Windows 7 technologies we path-found the user-experience and created demo software that harnessed the power of 'touch'. Using an approach more akin to product design we continue to work closely with Capita to create software that is both engaging and empowering for teachers.
The Outcome
The result is an intuitive UI that empowers teachers to focus on teaching.
Discover was a finalist in the 2012 Bett Awards for education.
